We Remember
JACKSON, Edith “Joyce”
—
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Jackson on May 30, 2026, after a long battle with COPD and lung cancer.
She leaves to mourn her husband Jim after 60 years of marriage.
Joyce will also be missed by her son Brad (partner Colleen), grandsons Joshua (Fateema) of Australia and Brandan (Emma) of Vancouver, BC, and great-grandson Noah of Australia; son Steve, granddaughter Jamie (Grant), and great-granddaughter Blake and great-grandson Lucas; son Randy (Kimberly), granddaughters Maegan (Dorian), Taylor (Edgar) of California, USA, and Alyssa (Cole) of Terrace, BC, and great-granddaughters Elliana, Bellarae, Milagrace, and Norah. She is also survived by her stepchildren Levi Gardiner (Marlo) and Mykaela Gardiner (Caiden).
Predeceased by sister Phyllis Dodd, Joyce is survived by sisters Jeanette Keller and Debbie Gorse (Colin), as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her former daughter-in-law, Kathy.
Joyce grew up in Horseshoe Bay and stayed in the area even after her marriage to Jim. The family moved in 1987 to Beaver Lake Lodge above Winfield; moving with them was an extra family member, Jack Reid, who today is still considered their fourth son.
Joyce was a very active member in Beta Sigma Phi for 56 years in both North Vancouver and Kelowna councils. Joyce spent many hours volunteering for the West Vancouver Soccer Association when her boys were younger. She will be remembered for always being willing to jump in and organize any event. Her favourite get-togethers, small or large, were when family was around, especially if she could play a game of cards.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.

I worked with Joyce at the casino for many years. Joyce was completely devoted to her job and she just had a way of getting along with people whether fellow staff or customers. I have always tried to keep in touch with her and we spoke as recently as a few weeks ago. No one could tell a story like Joyce and she had so many … !!! Thank you Jim for being so devoted to taking care of her during her illness. Joyce did recognize and appreciate all that you did for her. May she rest in peace. Sincere condolences to the entire family.
Sending my love to my cousins. Will miss her. Hugs for everyone
Joyce was a member of our Beta Sigma Phi chapter (Alpha Omega Master) and will be remembered for her story telling and curious mind. She was always upbeat despite her illness. She will be remembered and missed. We offer sincere condolences to the family.
Joyce was always one of my favourite people, we worked together for years. Sending my deepest sympathies to her loved ones. Rest in Paradise Joyce.
