We Remember

HAGERTY, Clifford Anthony

July 12, 1944 — May 30, 2026

It is with both profound sadness and gratitude that the family of Clifford “Cliff” Hagerty announces his peaceful passing on May 30, 2026, at the age of 81.

Cliff was born on July 12, 1944, in Annaheim, Saskatchewan, to Walter and Clara Hagerty. Raised in a large and loving family, Cliff carried those strong family values throughout his entire life.

Cliff was known as a loving, patient, and incredibly hardworking man who always made time for the people he cared about. He freely volunteered his time whenever someone needed help and was always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply listen. He served on many Boards and committees including the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Foundation, St. Peter’s College Foundation, the building of the Humboldt Uniplex, and many other fundraising efforts.

Despite often describing himself as a “workaholic,” he never missed a family dinner, a weekend swim meet, or a dance recital. His family could always count on him to show up. Cliff was an eternal optimist who genuinely saw the good in everyone he met. In both business and in life, he earned a reputation for unwavering honesty, integrity, and fairness, qualities that defined the way he lived every day.

Cliff is lovingly remembered by his wife Faye. The two were married in Humboldt, Saskatchewan in 1967 on a very hot June day, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, adventure, hard work, and unwavering devotion to family.

After marrying, Cliff and Faye settled in Saskatoon where Cliff completed his Chartered Accountant designation while articling with the prestigious Coopers and Lybrand. In 1974, an opportunity arose to purchase the Massey Ferguson dealership in Humboldt from Faye’s father, and the couple returned to Humboldt where they spent the next 14 years raising their two daughters and building a wonderful life together.

In 1988, another opportunity led Cliff and his family to Kelowna, British Columbia, where he joined his brother Kevin in business. Around the same time, Cliff also became a partner at Doepker Industries in Annaheim, spending many years balancing responsibilities between Saskatchewan and British Columbia until ultimately retiring in 2009 and settling permanently in Kelowna.

Throughout their marriage, Cliff and Faye shared many incredible adventures together, travelling extensively to Australia, New Zealand, Trinidad, Switzerland, South Africa, Hawaii, Florida, Germany, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and many other destinations. They also shared a love for curling, golf, fishing, and time spent with close friends and family.

In his later years, bridge became one of Cliff’s great passions until aphasia caused by strokes gradually took away his ability to communicate and play the game he loved.

Above all else, Cliff treasured his family. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his four grandsons. Countless hours were spent teaching them how to count money properly, trim a perfect hedge, and tie a fishing hook. He enthusiastically played mini sticks, climbed jungle gyms, and kept pace with the boys’ boundless energy. As they grew older, cheering them on at hockey games and tournaments became one of his greatest joys. No matter what they pursued, Cliff (Papa) was always their biggest supporter.

In 2021, Cliff began suffering a series of TIAs and strokes that slowly robbed him of his ability to communicate and process information. He faced these challenges with remarkable strength, courage, and dignity, always comforted by the love and support of his family.

After an especially difficult final few months, Cliff passed peacefully while surrounded by love, with family by his side.

He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Dana (Warren) Saretsky and Stacey Hagerty (Noah O’Neal), and by his cherished grandsons Braden Saretsky (Victoria), Jonah Saretsky (Jana), Matthew Saretsky, and Dashel O’Neal, who brought immeasurable joy and pride to his life.

Cliff is also survived by his siblings Patricia Keller, Kevin Hagerty (Dianne), Marilyn Cavanaugh (Norm), Rita Wolfe (Ken), and Jane Aman (Rob) as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Maurice Hagerty (Ruth), sister Eileen Meyer (Dwayne), brother in law, Terry Keller, and his sweet little nieces Megan and Shivawn Wolfe.

The family would like to thank all those who supported Cliff and Faye throughout his illness with kindness, care, and compassion.
