We Remember
COOKE, Martin Joseph “Jack”
February 18, 1942 — March 13, 2026
It is with deep sadness and immense love that we announce the passing of Martin Joseph Cooke, known lovingly to so many as Jack, on March 13, 2026.
Born in Dublin, Ireland on February 18, 1942, Jack lived a life filled with music, laughter, style, and an extraordinary love for people. In 1969, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada with his beloved wife Eileen and young son Martin, later welcoming his daughter Michelle. Toronto became the city he proudly called home, and where his warmth, charm, and unmistakable presence touched countless lives.
Jack was truly one of a kind – endlessly optimistic, caring, charismatic, and full of life. He never met a stranger. Everyone who crossed paths with him was drawn in by his captivating spirit, his kindness, and his remarkable ability to make others feel special. His nephews and nieces in Ireland affectionately called him “Uncle Marvelous,” a name that suited him perfectly, because with Jack, everything was always “fabulous.”
Music was one of the greatest joys of his life. Beginning his career with the Irish showbands in Ireland, his powerful voice and love of entertaining followed him to Canada, where he continued singing throughout his life. Whether on stage, at a family gathering, or simply among friends, Jack had a gift for bringing people together through song, laughter, and storytelling. To many, he was the master of ceremonies of every room he entered – making people smile, laugh, and sing along to the beautiful songs he loved so dearly.
Jack was also known for his impeccable style and elegance. In his later years, he was rarely seen without a perfectly tailored suit and became well known for both his sophisticated fashion sense and his work with Louis Vuitton, where his natural charm and talent as a salesman made a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Above all else, Jack’s greatest love was his family. He adored his beloved wife Eileen, his children Martin and Michelle, and treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rebecca, Liam, Aidan, Scott and Eileen, to whom he was a proud and devoted “Granda.” His love for his family was unwavering and evident in everything he did.
Jack lived life fully, joyfully, and with extraordinary grace. He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, laughter, kindness, and unforgettable memories. Though deeply missed, his voice, spirit, and fabulous charm will live on in all who knew and loved him.
