WEBER, Robert Michael

June 5, 1961 — August 17, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Rob” Michael Weber, who died peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the age of 65.

Rob was predeceased by his dearly loved wife, Diana, in 2020. Their life together was one of love, family, friendship, and many shared adventures. Her loss left an enormous space in Rob’s life, but the memories they created together remained close to his heart. It brings comfort to those who loved them to know that, after six years apart, they are together once again.

With Diana’s encouragement, Rob pursued one of his great passions—kart racing. As a member of the Southern Interior Karting Association (SIKA), he enjoyed many successful years of competition, winning several championship titles along the way. Earlier this year, Rob entered his final racing season and took the checkered flag on a long and rewarding run. But racing was about far more than winning. The friendships, camaraderie, and sense of belonging he found within the racing community meant a great deal to him. In his final days, he proudly wore his SIKA jacket and cap—a fitting reminder of something that had brought him so much joy.

Rob’s cancer diagnosis brought about an earlier retirement than he had planned from Snow Cap Interior Food Services, where for ten years he travelled the West Kootenay loop. He genuinely enjoyed his work and the people he came to know along the way. Even in his final days, he spoke of how much he missed the familiar route and the regular conversations and connections with his clients.

Born and raised in Hanna and Coaldale, Alberta, Rob later built a life with Diana that took them to Calgary, Salmon Arm and, finally, Vernon. There they created a beautiful home —a place they hoped to enjoy for the rest of their lives together.

Rob leaves behind his brothers, Fred (Maureen) and Eric (Robbin); Rob and Diana’s sons, Jeremy (Jessica), Todd (Maryann), and Joshua; and their grandchildren, Cameron, Brett, Shania, Xavier, Ian, Harmony, and Destiny. He will also be deeply missed by Diana’s family, his extended family, and the many friends whose lives became intertwined with theirs over the years.

Those who knew Rob will remember, above all, a genuinely kind and good-hearted man. He valued simple things that mattered deeply: gathering around a table with family and friends, sharing a good meal, telling stories, laughing, playing cards, and enjoying the company of people he cared about. There were always jokes to be told and, on occasion, a tall tale or two—many shared over the years with dear friends Mike and Kelly, Roger and Cheryl, and others who held a special place in his life.

Rob faced the final chapter of his life with the same quiet nature that characterized the man he was. He was surrounded by people who loved him and cared deeply for him, and he remained connected to the things that had given his life meaning—Diana and family, friendship, work, racing, laughter, and the memories of a life well lived.

A private family service will be held at a later date in Calgary, where Rob’s ashes will be interred with Diana’s. Together in life, separated too soon, and now together again.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the health-care professionals of 3MU at Kelowna General Hospital and Hospice House, who cared for Rob with such compassion and dignity throughout his final journey. We are especially grateful to Drs. Rao, Follett, Gray and Larson, along with the many other physicians, nurses and care providers who supported Rob and his family with expertise, kindness, and humanity.

Rob will be remembered not simply for the things he accomplished, but for the way he treated people and the friendships he carried with him throughout his life.

His race is finished, but the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind will travel with us for many years to come.
