We Remember

BERTHAUDIN, Geraldine Teresa

April 1, 1947 — August 25, 2026

It is with love and sadness that we announce the loss of Geraldine Teresa Berthaudin, who passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 79, after battling some health and mobility issues beginning in 2020.

Geraldine is lovingly survived by her sons Graham (Amy) and Stuart (Lisa); stepsons Andre (Dawn) and Marc (Margo); grandchildren Johnathan, Tessa, Miranda, Taylor, Kyle, and Riley; great-granddaughter Jane; brother Anthony Byrne; lifelong friend Sue Lawlor; and extended family.

Geraldine was born in Liverpool, England, on April 1, 1947, to John and Teresa Byrne.  She married Frank Quayle at a young age, and by the time she was 20, she had her two sons. Geraldine, her husband, and their two young boys left Liverpool aboard one of the last immigration ships, Empress of Canada, in 1967, bound for Montreal, Canada. They eventually made their way to Winnipeg, where a new chapter began. The family later returned to England for a time, but Canada ultimately called Geraldine back, and it was here that she would put down lasting roots.

It was in 1979 that Geraldine met and fell in love with Frank Berthaudin, living in Coquitlam and Maple Ridge before moving to West Kelowna in 1993. For around 20 years, they escaped the Canadian winters by snowbirding in Yuma, Arizona, always accompanied by their two little dogs. Those years brought sunshine, friendships, and experiences that became a big part of their life together.

She always stuck by her English roots, enjoying a proper cup of tea, familiar English treats, and the entertainment and traditions that reminded her of home. After Frank passed away in 2022, Geraldine continued to live in their home, happy to have people pop by for a good cup of tea and a chat.

She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Immediate family will gather at a later date for a small celebration of Geraldine’s life. No formal service will be held.
