We Remember

WALLER, Wendy Lee

—

September 24th 2026

It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Lee Waller (née Zeolkowski). She went peacefully surrounded by her family and with an abundance of love. Wendy is survived by her husband Chris and her three children Alexander, Devin and Victoria.

Wendy was born on the November 26th, 1969 in Vernon to Barry and Shirley Zeolkowski, moving shortly after to Kelowna. She would attend and graduate from Rutland Senior Secondary School where she would meet her high-school sweetheart and soulmate Chris Waller.

After completion of school, both Chris and Wendy would move to Vancouver in pursuit of higher education, where Wendy would complete a medical office assistant certification program. It would also be in Vancouver, while Chris was pursuing a Pharmacy degree in 1997 at University of British Columbia, where they would welcome the first of their children, Alexander.

They decided that because starting a family was the foremost idea, that returning to Kelowna to take over the family business was best. They then would welcome their second, Devin in 1999 and third, Victoria in 2001, completing their family.

Cooking and feeding those she cared about was among Wendy’s most cherished acts of service. No one was to ever go hungry or unfed in the Waller’s household. As good conversation could only be improved by a meal and a good beverage.

Wendy’s favourite and most important role was to be a mother to her three children. She would act as an advocate and volunteer throughout the years, supporting her spouse and children through the many years of school, PAC meetings, event coordinations and numerous extracurricular activities. Being an advocate for her family, friends and the community is where Wendy would shine the brightest.

Wendy will be remembered as a caring, humorous, and passionate person with an immense love of life. A creative with a steadfast belief in hard work that she would in-still into her children.

Wendy is gone too soon and will be deeply missed.

A service is to take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, starting at 1:00 pm, at Springfield Funeral Home (2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna), with an online portal to view remotely for those who cannot attend in person (see below).

  • Julee-ann Richmond says:

Chris and kids I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Wendy. I had the pleasure of working with and for Wendy at Thrifty’s. Wendy was small but mighty. She was a hard worker. She loved fiercley and was quick to laugh. I have many fond memories of her. She called me out on my BS ( I was young she was like a big sister) and gave me praise and encouragement even more freely. I will never forget her facing down my work “stalker”. I remember how excited she was to marry you Chris. I truly feel blessed to have had her in my life. Over the years our paths crossed but not as often as I would like. May you find some comfort in your memories. I am so sorry for your loss.

Words cannot express how heartbroken Lora and I are. We are so sorry for your loss.
I can hear her laughter in my head when I think about the many talks we had at the end of my work day. Her focus on your family and raising kids was second to none. She set the bar for me. I will miss her terribly. Wendy has been one of my all time favourite people in my life.

    Love to you all,
    Noel Wentworth.
