We Remember
RODGER, Margaret “Heather”
April 23, 1944 — September 24, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of Margaret “Heather” Rodger, who passed away on September 24, 2026.
Heather is lovingly survived by her children Alex (Val) and Jennifer (Calvin); grandchildren Katelyn (Tyler) and Kyle; and great-grandchildren Davy, Claire, and Miller.
She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her husband Alexander Edward Rodger; parents Margaret and Bill Kittson; and brother Donald “Bud” Kittson.
Heather was born in New Westminster, BC, on April 23, 1944, and living in Esquimalt on Vancouver Island, she grew up alongside the regular rhythm of the Pacific Ocean. Proud, determined, and deeply caring, she approached life with strength and a mind of her own. Above all, Heather was a loving and doting mother, and her family held a very special place in her heart.
Heather met her husband, Ed, on a double date, beginning a life together filled with experiences and adventures. During Ed’s service in the Navy, they lived in many places across the country, making a home wherever life happened to take them.
Creative and artistic, Heather had a wonderful appreciation for beauty. She was a talented artist and painter and also had a love for floral arranging. Her creativity found its way into the kitchen as well, where she enjoyed cooking and baking. She was especially known for her amazing Beef Wellington, a dish that became one of her specialties.
Heather loved to entertain and was always happy to host a party. She enjoyed bringing people together over good food, good music, and, perhaps, a Manhattan or a Scotch. Music was an important part of her life, and some of her favourites included Neil Diamond, Don Williams, and jazz.
Heather also had a great love for animals and a genuine appreciation for the many simple pleasures that made life enjoyable. She spent a lot of time volunteering through the women’s auxiliary, donating to hospice, and volunteering with the RCMP community policing program. In her retirement, she travelled the world extensively with Ed by her side on cruiseships or sitting next to him in the RV.
She will be remembered for her determination and creativity, her caring nature, and the tremendous love she had for her family.
Heather will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
