We Remember
EDMUNDS, Gilbert Douglas
March 30, 1932 — October 13, 2026
It is with the deepest sadness and heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gilbert Douglas Edmunds on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at the age of 94, in Kelowna, BC.
Gilbert was born on March 30, 1932, in Indianhead, Saskatchewan, as one of seven children to Douglas and Winifred Edmunds.
Gilbert met the love of his life, Louise, and they married in 1953. Gilbert worked in road construction in Saskatchewan before moving to Calgary, AB, to raise his family. Gil loved to farm, build furniture, garden, fish, and was the go-to person in the Inglewood district for anyone who needed help. Gil loved a challenge, enjoyed fixing things, and generally figuring things out.
Gilbert retired from Canadian Western Natural Gas as a mechanic in Calgary, where he worked for most of his life. Later, Louise and Gilbert moved to Kelowna to retire in a seniors’ residence.
He was predeceased by his brothers, George, Douglas, and Harry; his sisters, Muriel and Kathleen; and his grandson, Jason.
Gilbert will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Louise; brother, Albert; daughters, Linda (Joe) and Sharon; and sons, Doug (Jean) and Garth (Tula); as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rest peacefully, we Love you.
