We Remember
GREEN, Donald (Don) Ross
July 18, 1920 — May 28, 2013
Don was born in New Westminster and spent his later youth in England. Shortly before the war Don enlisted in the Royal Navy, training as a radio telegrapher. He served in several theatres of war latterly as a submariner in SE Asia.
Following the war he tried a number of occupations, working hard to support his wife and family of 4 children.
Finding a use for his radio skills in aviation, he eventually became a pilot, working in both the UK and Middle East. His flying career culminated in becoming Chief Pilot and Operations Manager in Libya.
Retiring from flying, he came “back home” to Kelowna where he became a successful and well-known realtor. In his 60s he met and married Helen with whom he enjoyed 32 years of happiness. Don was a warm and friendly person, always willing to lend a hand. He valued his friends most highly. He will be truly missed by both his family & friends.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held Thursday, June 6th at 2:30 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Rd., Kelowna.
