We Remember
RYAN, Violet Lillian Beatrice
April 30, 1919 — July 6, 2015
Our mother Lillian passed away peacefully at the Central Okanagan Hospice House in Kelowna, BC. She was 96 years young.
She is survived by sons Jim (Donna) and Jack (Alana); 5 grandchildren: Todd (Tina), Chad, Nathan, Marshall and Shawna (Brodie); great granddaughter Ivy. She is also survived by two of her sisters, Grace Oliver and Maizie Howard, sister-in-law Marion Ryan and many nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by our father Art in July, 2012. They had been married for 66 years. She has really missed Dad these past 3 years and now they will be united again.
She was born in Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan on April 30, 1919 and after high school graduation she trained as a registered nurse at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
Mom and Dad lived in Hope for 54 years where she was a member of the Eastern Star. For the past 9 years Mom has resided at Lakeshore Place Assisted Living Center in Kelowna.
Mom will be buried with Dad at a family ceremony in the Legion Cemetery in Hope. All of us will surely miss her as we have our Dad.

Jim and Jack, sincere condolences to you both with the loss of you mom, from an old Hope High School Student
So sorry for your loss, Jim, Jack and families. Spend time together sharing your memories; this will go a long way to easing your sorrow. We are thinking of you all at this time.
Jim and Jack sorry to hear of your loss our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time. I have many memories of your parents from dining at the original Ryan’s Drive Inn to the tales my parents (John and Nettie) told on their many road trips together.
I just found out about your mother’s passing (my dear Aunt Lillian) and Jim and Jack, who may not even remember me, you have my and my family’s condolences. My husband and I had a lovely visit with your parents in Hope many years ago and they came to visit us once when we lived in Seattle. I have many fond memories – even going back to Saskatoon.
Dear Jim and Jack, I just found out about Aunt Lillian’s passing away when I read Aunt Maizie’s obituary the other day (December 2015). I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss of Uncle Art, too. I contacted Aunt Lillian several years ago to talk about family genealogy and she was very helpful. Janice Dowling
