We Remember
BICKERT, Janice Mary
September 8, 1954 — November 30, 2025
With a deep sense of loss but also with a sense of joy that our dearest sister, Janice Mary Bickert, has passed to her eternal rest with the Lord. Janice passed peacefully in her sleep at Orchard Manor Seniors Care at 5:45 in the morning on November 30, 2025, with her brother, Dr Paul F. Bickert, at her bedside.
Born on September 8, 1954, in Nelson, British Columbia, Janice moved to Alberta in 1968 with her parents, John Irven Bickert and Kathleen Helen Bickert and brothers Geoffrey and Patrick. Then in 1986, Janice and her parents moved to Kelowna, and she has resided here since then. Janice was a challenged individual with Cerebral Palsy; however, she was spirited, loved enough by family to carry on after the passing of her father here in Kelowna in 1986 and then her mother in 2002. Then, until 2020, she resided in the Patrick and Mary Bickert family home under the loving care and fostering by her sister-in-law, Mary Bickert, when, in June 2020, she moved into Orchard Manor for the senior care of the loving Orchard Manor staff.
Throughout the many years while residing in Kelowna, Janice has attended ProVision’s programs along with her other challenged friends. The family is deeply indebted to the loving care given by the support workers of ProVisions staff, particularly Erin Barton and Keri Hayashi, Janice’s primary support worker.
Janice was a highly spirited individual with love for Jesus! She was an Elvis Presley superfan!
Janice is survived by her brother, Dr John Bickert D.C. (Gail) of Calgary, Mr Geoffrey Bickert BA, LLB, Q.C. (Sarah) of Ottawa and Dr Paul F. Bickert D.C. (Marlene) of Kelowna and numerous nieces and nephews in Kelowna, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa. She was pre-deceased by her father, John Irven Bickert (d 1986), her mother, Kathleen Helen Bickert (d 2002), her sister, Sherry Anne Bickert (Hackett) (d 1988) and her brother, Dr Patrick Gerard Bickert (d 2025).
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Janice’s memory to the 2026 Motionball Marathon of Sport Kelowna.
