We Remember

BLACKWOOD, Lexi Alyssa

June 12, 2013 — January 3, 2026

Lexi Alyssa Blackwood passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2026, at the age of 12.

Lexi grew up in West Kelowna, surrounded by a supportive family who encouraged her to pursue her interests and connect with the world around her. She was a creative and thoughtful soul who found joy in reading, sketching, painting, and spending time with animals. She enjoyed skiing and track and field, especially shot put. But her truly favourite pastimes were shopping and sleeping.

Lexi delighted in the simple magic of childhood. She loved teddy bears, bows, and cherries, as well as perfumes and all skin care products. She loved the playful whimsy that echoed her soft and gentle nature.  An old soul in many ways, Lexi showed a quiet wisdom beyond her years. She understood the importance of family and took special care of her younger sister, Harley—cooking for her, spending time together, and showing early signs of a nurturing, caregiving heart.

She leaves a family devastated by her loss.  Her parents, Ryan and Courtney; brother Max (and his father Adam); sister Harley; grandparents Dwight, Maxine, and Barb; aunts Tara (Joey), and Tennille (Jonathan); uncles Chris (Andrea) and Ben (Tasha); cousins Jordan, Jake, Denver, Bentley, Presley, Rex, and baby Sophia, and special dogs Moose and River.  Lexi was predeceased by her Grandfather Ivor, Great-Grandmother Donie, and Uncle Josh.

Amidst the creativity, curiosity, and boundless energy of youth, emotions can be delicate and easily overwhelmed. Young hearts feel deeply, often without the words or tools to fully express their struggles. Remember the fragility of childhood and the importance of compassion, understanding, and listening closely to the quiet battles that may be unseen.

Lexi will be remembered for her creativity, her tenderness, and the love she shared so freely. Her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, and her memory will be held close, always.

Lexi’s last request was that everyone wear a sweatshirt/hoodie and shorts to her funeral.
