We Remember

BOOKER, David Neil “Dave”

December 30, 1961 — December 20, 2025

Dave Booker passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of almost 64 years.

Born in Davidson, Saskatchewan, Dave grew up on the family farm, where he developed the strong work ethic that defined his life. A true Saskatchewan farm boy, he was a cowboy in his youth who loved horses and had a deep affection for all animals. He was a man’s man—tough, capable, and independent—with a reputation for being able to build or fix just about anything put in front of him.

A skilled tradesman, Dave was highly respected in the drywall industry; whether it was hanging board, taping, or texturing ceilings, he was always in demand. He took pride in doing things right, even if it meant doing them the hard way. His legendary stubbornness was matched only by his determination to see a job through. Those who were fortunate to work alongside Dave know that he was a teacher and mentor, and he left them with skills and knowledge they carried into their own work. In his later years, Dave discovered a passion for woodturning. In the final months of his life, he worked tirelessly to create meaningful keepsakes for everyone he held close in his heart—a final, heartfelt expression of his love.

His genuineness, sense of humour, and wide range of experience created a large circle of acquaintances that grew continually over the years, and a core group of very close friends.  Dave was a jokester with a sharp wit and a collection of favourite sayings, including “Big as a pigeon’s kneecap” and “Who’s the King?” He could be grumpy and warm at the same time. He was also a devoted member of the Rider Nation, cheering faithfully for his Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 42 years.

Family was always close by and close to his heart. He is survived by Kim, his wife of 38 years; daughters Alissa Forman (and her children Emily, Avery, Ethan and Morgan Forman), Megan Booker (and her children Tylar Ray, Evan Lynn, and Leah Laine Obrigewitsch), Treana (John) Hamilton (and her children Cade and Kael Pearson (Amy), and Brooke Hamilton), and Jamie Brooks (Jason Fields) (and her children Kiara Nadal-Brooks (Vuk Milacic) and Kai Fields); sisters Lisa and Beth Booker; brother Barry Booker; and great-nephew Hunter Pederson, who lived with Dave and Kim; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marlene Booker. His affections were owned by his beloved dogs, who all paid him back with their loyalty and affection: Kramer, Sadie, Georgia (who predeceased him), and Chaos, who is now missing him at home.

Beneath his hard shell was a large, soft heart. Caring meant being there and doing what was needed. The list of tasks he carried out for family and friends is endless; he gave freely, lived hard, and will never be forgotten.

The family sends a special thank you to Dr. Purdon, who Dave trusted so much and who was there for Dave and Kim through a very difficult time.

Memorial Donations in memory of Dave may be sent to BC SPCA. A private service will be held at a later date.
