We Remember

BOOKER, Harvey Frederick Walter

April 15, 1938 — June 15, 2025

Harvey Frederick Walter Booker went to be with the Lord peacefully on June 15, 2025, at Brookhaven Care Centre in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 87.

Born on April 15, 1938, in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Harvey was the son of the late Harvey and Violet Booker. In 1963, he moved to Edmonton, where he lived for a decade before spending a few years in Calgary. In 1976, he settled in Kelowna and established Booker Aircraft Sales.

Harvey had a deep and active faith. He served on the board of Evangel Church, taught a college and careers class, and led small group Bible studies; he was always fond of connecting with young people. He also travelled to Thailand on a missions trip with Ethnos Asia Ministries.

A man of many interests, Harvey loved music (particularly the saxophone) hunting & fishing, flying, and sharing laughter with others.

Harvey is lovingly remembered by his wife of over 67 years, Ivy; children Debbie Schmidt, Sherry (Dave) Litke, and Todd (Brenda) Booker; grandchildren Jimmy (Tracy) Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, Lisa Schmidt, Ryan (Danielle) May, and Ashley Booker; and great-grandchildren Adranna and Hailey Schmidt.

Harvey is also survived by his siblings Ken (Marg) Booker, April (Mel) Brewer, and Marilyn (Gary) Rayner; sisters-in-law Carol Booker, Louise Martin, Fay (Dalton) Eagle, and Dennis (Gerri) Cresswell; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Norman Booker; brother and sister-in-law David and Ellis Booker; and grandson Travis Booker.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre for being amazing and very caring.

I was listening to saxaphone jazz and decided to go online and check on Harvey. I will remember him from our St. Albert days and camping trips with my dad (his pastor) my brother and me. He showed up as a surprsise to us when Dad was in hospice. I will hold those memories fondly.
