We Remember

BRADBURY, Margaret

October 17, 1938 — July 5, 2025

Margaret passed away on July 5, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Margaret spent the last 3 1/2 years of her life in care at Hawthorn Park in Assisted Living and then Long Term Care at Orchard Manor due to her Dementia decline. The family especially thanks all the staff for their kindness, dedicated and care in helping Margaret navigate her life through her advancing Dementia. She forgot so much of her life, but she would always show glimpses of the Margaret that we have loved and known all our lives.

Survived by her children Rachael (Stephen) and Stephen (Lisa); grandchildren Alex (Haley), Sam (Julien), Kieran, and Meg, Margaret is also missed by her siblings John (Margaret) and Ann. Sadly, she was predeceased by her husband Ken and her parents, Alf and Veda.

Born in the UK, Margaret, Ken, and the children came to Canada in 1975. It was meant to be for a few years, but they stayed and became Canadian citizens in 1980; after moving to Canada, Margaret never looked back. She spent a lifetime actively involved in volunteer organizations and playing tennis. Margaret lost her husband, Ken, too early in life at age 49, but she lived her life to the fullest.

In 2003, she made a big move from Cornwall, Ontario to West Kelowna, BC – to be closer to her children and (at the time) 2 grandsons. She chose West Kelowna to be halfway between Burnaby and Alberta, where her children lived. In the meantime, Rachael and family moved to Kelowna. In the last 22 years, Margaret (aka Gran) has spent much more time and has had many adventures with grandchildren Alex, Sam, Kieran, and Meg.

Travel with friends and visiting family has taken Margaret on many trips through Western Canada, England, Australia, Greece, and many other places. She travelled with family, great friends, and even on her own.

A small family celebration will occur later in the summer, the family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations to Alzheimer Society of BC would be gratefully appreciated.

Condolences

  • Sam Cottrell says:

I played tennis with Margaret for several years at Lakeview Heights Tennis Club. She was always a joy to be around. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and shared many stories of their activities. You may have lost Margaret to dementia, but you will find her again when you focus on the good years before then. May she rest in peace.

  • Raymond Jennings says:

  • Shirley Parfett says:

I met Margaret through the Iverson’s in Cornwall. She was a great lady and loved to play badminton and
entertain. Don & I had a wonderful visit with her when we headed out west some 13 years ago for our 50th anniversary . She loved to visit with everyone! And memories are wonderful.

  • Marcia Thiessen says:

When I think of Margaret I automatically smile and chuckle to myself as a memory pops into my head. My memories of her are full of good times and laughter. My condolences to her family. While I have many photos of her, they are not readily available to post.
