We Remember
CALLENS, Alice
August 5, 1938 — December 24, 2025
Our dear mother passed away surrounded by family in the early morning of Christmas Eve, 2025, at the age of 87. Mom is now reunited forever with her husband Larry (d. 2017).
Mom was born into a large Ukrainian immigrant family on August 5, 1938, in Yellow Creek, Saskatchewan. The family later moved to Capeau, Saskatchewan, where she was raised learning about hard work and the importance of family. When Mom graduated from high school in Porcupine Plain, she knew one thing for sure, and that was she did not want to marry a farmer! On a blind date in Kindersley in 1960, Mom met our father Larry, a tall, handsome RCMP officer. They married in 1961 and that began a legacy of RCMP members. Their son, Craig, was born in 1963, followed by daughter, Kim, in 1968. Dad’s career took them to Saskatoon, Ottawa, Regina, Yellowknife, and Winnipeg. They retired to the family farm in Mara, where they spent 24 wonderful years. Mom was an amazing cook and hostess who took great pride in a meticulous home and beautiful gardens.
Mom proudly managed a retail clothing store for many years when they lived in Regina, and often commented that those years in Regina were “the best”. Mom and dad travelled the world after retirement and enjoyed some amazing trips together.
After Dad passed away in 2017, Mom moved to Kelowna to be closer to her family. Mom will be dearly missed by her children Craig (Joanne), Kim (Mike) Jacobs; grandchildren Courtney (Gian), Taylor (Claire), Brandon (Eashita) and Erin (Mike); as well as her precious great-grandchildren Mya, Ada and Sanya. Mom is also survived by three sisters, Mary, Olga, and Linda; along with many nieces and nephews.
