We Remember
CLÉMENT, Paul Jean Armand
June 25, 1938 — March 23, 2026
Paul Jean Armand Clément passed away on March 23, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on June 25, 1938, in St. Agathe MB, into a world that, quite literally, his family helped build. The church where he drew his first breath had been constructed by the hands of Diane’s father (his future father-in-law), a detail that feels less like coincidence and more like the opening line of a story that was always meant to be told.
With a keen interest in his French heritage and family tree, Paul learned that his ancestors, going back as far as the 700s in Europe, came from northwestern France to settle Quebec’s St. Lawrence River valley in the early 17th century and later moved west to Manitoba.
Paul was a man of considerable intellect, quiet depth, and methodical nature. He built a career with DuPont, Multipak and Vision Packaging prior to retiring in Kelowna, BC in 1993. Books were lifelong companions; philosophy and intellectual science fiction held a particular fascination, and he read with the voracious appetite of someone who genuinely believed the universe had more to offer than what was immediately visible.
He was the sort of person who thought carefully, spoke deliberately, and could be completely relied upon.
He made his own wine, kept a workshop where antiques were restored to something approaching their former dignity, and found genuine pleasure on the ski slopes and the golf course. Nature, in all its unhurried abundance, was never lost on him.
Paul was introverted by disposition but generous in practice; the kind of man who helped quietly, without fanfare.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of sixty years, Diane; his children Justin and Roxane; and his two grandsons, August and Mathias, who were very close to their beloved “pepère”. He will also be remembered by his siblings Claude, Marcel, Rheal “Ray”, and Jocelyne “Joey”. He was predeceased by his parents, Mathias and Marie-Marthe, and by his siblings Fernande “Fernie”, Rollande “Rolly”, Lucien “Louie”, and Damien “Danny”.
Friends and family will be invited to a celebration of Paul’s life to be held in Kelowna this June.
Memorial Donations in memory of Paul may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
