We Remember

FOSTER, Gerald “Gerry”

April 21, 1934 — May 30, 2025

Gerald Foster passed away with friends by his side on May 30, 2025, in Kelowna, British Columbia, at the age of 91.

He now goes to join his beloved wife, Rose; his parents; and his brothers.

Gerry leaves behind his dear cat, and all the wonderful friends who have always looked out for him.

Born in Vancouver, BC, Gerry led a long and varied career marked by hard work, grit, and determination. He began working at just 16 years old on a tugboat, later spending years in the logging and mining industries. Eventually, he settled in Merritt, where he became a dedicated tow truck driver and was well known for rescuing stranded travellers along the Coquihalla Highway.

Gerry will be fondly remembered for his signature style, always in a leather jacket and a good hat; his fierce independence; and his belief that a handshake was as binding as any contract. His strength of character and steady presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
