We Remember
GELLNER, Marty Myles
April 27, 1958 — January 31, 2026
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Marty Myles Gellner, who died peacefully on January 31, 2026, in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Born on April 27, 1958, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Marty was raised in Fernie, British Columbia. He carried with him the quiet strength of the mountains and forests he grew up among. He was never one to seek the spotlight. Instead, he listened more than he spoke, and kept to himself. Yet at family gatherings, he was a comforting preasance who always had a well-timed, witty remark that caught everyone off guard.
Marty was gifted with his hands. A natural handyman, he was generous with his time and skill, helping friends and neighbours with home projects whenever he could. He built a home for himself and his new family, pouring care into every detail. Later, he helped build another house for his parents; his willingness to show love through action rather than words defined who he was.
He found peace outdoors, spending many hours surrounded by nature. Whether walking, working, or simply sitting in stillness, the natural world restored him. In the evenings, he would often unwind by playing soft, gentle tunes on his guitar.
Marty is lovingly remembered by his son, Myles William Gellner; his siblings, Lorna and Bob Smith, Tammy and Lester Leskosek, and Barry and Shelly Gellner. He now joins those who went before him: his son Justin Gellner; his brother Danny; and his parents, William and Eleanor Gellner.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to his brothers, sisters, and his former wife, Shelley, for the love, support, and compassion they showed Marty, especially during times when life weighed heavily on him. He never wished to be a burden and carried that concern quietly.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
