We Remember

GIUSTO, Lauren

February 22, 1977 — November 19, 2025

It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we mourn our beautiful Lauren, who passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, surrounded by family.

Lauren leaves behind her devoted husband, Carlo; cherished children, Nico and Sofia; parents, Laurence and Cindy Deslauriers; grandmother, Lillian Filipchuk; mother and father-in-law, Wanda and Richard Baril; siblings, Leah LeBlanc (Brennan), Devon Deslauriers (Lindsay), and Megan Deslauriers (Vijai), her sisters-in-law, Kelly Rice (Darren) and Emily Brown. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Elliot, Mario, Lucas, Violet, Margot, Vikram, Madhav, Victoria, and Wyatt, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who loved her deeply.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Henry and Edith Deslauriers, Sam Filipchuk, Theresa Coder, and her uncle, Roger Deslauriers.

Lauren was born in Saskatoon on February 22, 1977. She was the first grandchild on both sides of the family and was doted on by her grandparents, aunts, and uncles from the beginning.

Two years later, she was joined by her sister Leah, followed by her brother Devon and sister Megan. More than just a big sister, Lauren naturally took on a motherly role with her siblings, something she continued throughout her life.

Lauren was a happy, easygoing baby, a sweet, loving child, and a fun, mischievous teenager. She attended River Heights Elementary and Marion Graham High School, where she surrounded herself with the most genuine friends. They shared countless adventures together and had more than their fair share of fun (if you know, you know).

At 18, Lauren set out on her own with a one-way ticket to Vancouver. She was drawn to the energy of the big city and the beauty of the B.C. landscape. She often said, “I just need to see the mountains every day.”

Life in Vancouver brought Lauren into a circle of very special, lifelong friends. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Carlo. They were married in 2007 in an unforgettable destination wedding in Mexico that brought friends and family together. They had a beautiful marriage that was apparent to everyone. They were best friends, always working as a team and showing their love for one another through small, tender gestures.

They welcomed two beautiful children, Nico and Sofia, in 2009 and 2012. Lauren was an extraordinary and nurturing mother. She wanted them to experience every opportunity, creating a childhood full of joy and memories. Her children describe her as selfless, thoughtful, consistent, and deeply loving.

Lauren took great care in choosing the perfect, most thoughtful gifts for the people she loved. She often said, “I just love doing that for people.” Bringing joy to others made her genuinely happy—but in truth, she was the real gift.

Her ability to make everyone feel special and welcome made her a popular and well-loved hairstylist. Lauren cherished her clients—especially “her ladies”, often saying that her time with them was an important part of her social life, which was truly therapeutic for both her and the person in the chair.

Lauren made it a priority to stay connected with friends and family from afar, always making time for phone calls, organizing vacations and many visits home to Saskatoon. She has nurtured and maintained strong, meaningful and long-lasting friendships and bonds with the people in her life, both past and present.

Throughout her journey with cancer, Lauren set out with a remarkable determination to beat the disease. In the process, she embarked on a deeply personal and spiritual journey, learning more about herself than ever before. Her oncologist often said she was one of the strongest patients he had ever treated.

During this time, Lauren made it her mission to welcome every opportunity and experience. She avoided dwelling on negative thoughts and continued making plans for her future right up until the very end.

Her family and friends remember her as determined, positive, and a true inspiration.

Those close to her would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and volunteers at Kelowna General Hospital and BC Cancer, including the Hospital at Home program and Kelowna Hospice Center. She was especially grateful for her time with Elisabeth, her spiritual healer, and Dr. David, her oncologist, whose support meant so much to her.

Her family would also like to thank all those who supported Lauren during this difficult time, as well as those who made contributions to the Giusto family GoFundMe. Lauren was deeply appreciative of all the love and support she received.
