We Remember

HANNAM, David Leon
May 15, 1950 — September 23, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of David Hannam announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the age of 75.
David will be lovingly remembered by his children, Tim (Michelle) Hannam, Holly (Terry) Hearn, Tracy (Greg) McKenzie, Buddy (Laura) Bent, and Shannon (Shane) Hinter; grandchildren Kate-Lynn (Brandon) Hannam and Savanna Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Olive, Neilan, and Myles; siblings, Allan (Mary Ann) Hannam, Larry (Louise) Hannam, Dennis (Debbie) Hannam, and Tony (Diane) Hannam; aunts Norma (Wilfred) Smith and Laverne MacDonald; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Atwater; step-father Norm Atwater; and father Leon Hannam.
David was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia, and was the oldest of his siblings. Being the oldest, he would share stories of the adventures and troubles he, his brothers, and his buddies would get into coming from a small community. David followed his father’s and step-father’s footsteps and started his life-long career in the trucking industry, starting when he was still in his teens. He was an owner and operator working in the moving industry, hauling glue and cement. In 2016-2017, David’s health started to fail, and he was forced to retire from Chambers Trucking, a company he spoke highly of.
A true storyteller, David would share his many adventures and pranks with all who’d listen. David was known for his phrases, “What’s your hurry?”, and always ending his phone conversations with “We love ya, we talk later”.
He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched with his kindness, humour, and many stories.
Family and friends will each honour him in their own ways. No formal service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the BC SPCA or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
