We Remember

HOOKER, Patricia Alice

April 28, 1940 — January 18, 2026

Surrounded by loved ones, Patrica Alice Hooker of Kelowna, British Columbia, passed away on January 18, 2026.

Patrica was born on April 28, 1940, to Ross and Alice Holmes in Edmonton, Alberta and grew up in Haney, BC, with her Mom, Dad, and brothers Lyall and Don.

After moving to Kelowna in 1959, she met the love of her life in Brian Hooker at the Shop-Easy in Capri Centre, where they both worked before she completed her teaching certificate and taught early primary children at Central Elementary School. With friends and family present, they took their vows together in 1962, and went on to have three children: Michael, Jeffrey, and Sara-Lynn.

In 1972, they moved their young family to an acreage in South Kelowna, where they would spend the next 50 years. She began realizing her dream of raising a family in the countryside, giving them the benefits of space to explore while raising horses, goats, rabbits, chickens and maintaining large gardens of flowers and vegetables.

As her children grew, Pat started a second phase of her teaching career as a learning assistant for children with special needs, where her insight, resolve, and love touched the lives of both her students and their parents for the better.

Pat valued nothing more than spending time with family, nurturing the special gifts she saw in each of her children and grandchildren. From songs and stories from the past, to hand sewn comfies like ‘grammy pajamies’ it was unconditional time spent that formed a love and bond that made each of them feel special.

Pat will be hugely missed by her many friends, extended family and children, Mike, Kelly, Jeff, Brenda, and Sara; grandchildren, Quinton, Aiden, Spencer, Sean, and Tarn; and most especially by her loving husband and life partner, Brian.

The family would like to thank the exceptional nurses and doctors at Kelowna General Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the KGH Foundation, www.kghfoundation.com, would be greatly appreciated.
