We Remember

JAMIESON, Janice Diane (neé Leask)

February 25, 1953 — March 9, 2026

Janice passed peacefully on her own terms on March 9, 2026, at the age of 73, with her husband and daughters by her side.

Born in Olds, Alberta to the late Grace and Earle Leask, Janice was the oldest of five children and often helped with caring for her younger siblings.

She met the love of her life, Pat, in Sylvan Lake in 1969. He saw a beautiful girl standing on the dock on the next-door property and the rest was history. Pat and Janice had a beautiful life together; they were married in 1972 at just 19 and raised two daughters, Jennifer and Catherine. Over the years they had the opportunity to live in many places, including Edmonton, Richmond, Houston, Regina, and Calgary, eventually retiring in Kelowna. They loved to travel and were able to explore many parts of the world, with family trips to Hawaii in later years holding a special place in their hearts. But Janice’s happy place was the cabin at Sylvan Lake – many peaceful moments and much family fun was shared at the Jamieson property and, more recently, at Sunbreaker Cove.

Janice was creative, full of life, and always ready with a warm smile. She was an amazing gardener, seamstress and cook. She loved to be in the kitchen with family, enjoy good food and drink, and to sit outside, pontificating while she soaked up the view. Her happy energy filled every room she entered, and she was known to make friends anywhere she went. She was a loving and fun Nana to her four grandchildren, who she was crazy proud of. She often reflected on how fortunate she was in life; “How lucky are we?”

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Patrick; her daughters Jennifer (Darcey) and Catherine (Graham); her grandchildren Sam, Mara, Brynn and Jonah; her siblings JoAnn (Ken), Cathie (Bob), Jim (Karla) and Bruce (Brenda); and numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be returned to Sylvan Lake where she had so many happy memories.

In honour of Nana, make a comforting pot of soup, get your hands in the dirt and plant something beautiful, share a laugh over a rum and coke with a friend, hug your family tight and tell them you f’n love them… and make sure to save the best bite for last.
