We Remember

JOHNSTON, Marie Corrinne Dora

October 11, 1947 — March 1, 2026

It is with immense love and sadness that we announce the loss of Marie Johnston, who passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on March 1, 2026, at the age of 78.

Marie was predeceased by her mother Dora; father Didier; siblings Denise, Tony, Andy, Louis, Louise, and Clem; and her nephew Scott.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Darryl (Diane) and Dena (Alex); grandchildren Dylan and Sara (Kelsey); great-grandchild Miller; siblings Yvonne (Ken) and Richard (Heather); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Marie was born in McLennan, Alberta, and raised in nearby Girouxville before her family of eleven later settled in Dawson Creek, BC. As a teenager she made Dawson Creek home, and in her adult years she built a life centered around family, hard work, and meaningful connections with the many people she met along the way. Marie later married and welcomed two children, who would go on to give her the great joy of grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Throughout her life, Marie was known as a hardworking woman who took great pride in both her family and in everything she did. She lived in several communities across British Columbia, including Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Prince George, before settling in Kelowna more than 40 years ago. During her time in Kelowna she formed many cherished friendships and often spoke fondly of the time she spent with those close to her. Marie held many different jobs over the years and always valued the people she worked with, treating coworkers like family, including those she most recently worked alongside at a local Pharmasave near her home.

Marie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling by plane or car, and especially treasured family game nights. One of her fondest memories was a trip to Las Vegas with her brothers and sisters-in-law, Louie, Clem, Lorrie, and Pam.

Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with loved ones who passed before her, likely keeping them all in line as she always did.
