We Remember
KENNEDY, Elinora “Ella”
May 17, 1927 — March 30, 2026
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Ella Kennedy on March 30, 2026, at the age of 98.
Ella was born in Francis, Saskatchewan, on June 17, 1927, to Michael and Ethel Uhrich. She was one of nine siblings and spent her youth on the farm, living through the Great Depression of the 1930’s. When a teenager, Ella and her family moved to the Okanagan, living in Okanagan Center.
It was there that she met her husband-to-be, George, and they married in 1950 and moved to Kelowna.
Ella is predeceased by her husband George; her sisters Ann and Emilia; her brothers Joe, Leo and Leonard; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Ella is survived by her son, Kelly (Catherine); daughter, Collette (Bill); grandchildren, Lindsay, Alan and Meghan; great-grandson, George; sister, Helen; and brothers, Val and Don (Pat).
Ella loved life and was an avid gardener and crossword puzzle solver. She liked to sing and dance and was a part of many family gatherings. Ella and George both enjoyed camping and spent many a weekend at a campsite with family and friends.
Above all, Ella cherished family and her greatest joy was the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchild, who lovingly referred to her as Gran.
Ella will be remembered for her kindness and devotion, and she will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Ella will be deeply missed, but we know that she is reunited with George and other family members.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Lakeview Lodge and Hawthorn Park for the loving care of Ella.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Covenant House.
