We Remember

KURSCHAT, Rosemarie “Rosie”

April 2, 1939 — July 1, 2025

Rosie Kurschat, born on April 2, 1939, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in East Prussia, Rosie was the youngest of twelve children and survived unimaginable hardship during World War II. Her life journey took her from the devastation of war-torn Europe to the promise of a new beginning in Canada. She eventually settled in Vancouver, where she met and married the love of her life, Fred Kurschat. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage, raising two sons, Marcus (Janis) and Stefan, and building a life centred on faith and family.

Rosie’s greatest joy came from being a loving wife and mother and Oma to her grandchildren: Marcus, Jack (Kylie), and Michael. She had an incredible ability to make any place feel like home, and her warmth, faith, and strength touched everyone she met. After many years in Fort St. John and a fulfilling retirement in Kelowna, Rosie leaves behind her beloved husband Fred, her children and grandchildren, her dear sister Walli Kuehn, sister-in-law Jeannette Kurschat, and many extended family members and friends.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering courage, and deep love for her family.
