We Remember
LINDBERG, James Phillip “Jim”
April 25, 1940 — September 3, 2025
James Phillip Lindberg, April 25, 1940 to September 03, 2025 passed away suddenly at home at the age of 85. A kind, gentle man of few words and many talents, James will be sorely missed by his sons Jim (Jackie) and Tyler (Saskia); his surviving sisters Judy, Lois, Patricia; and all family and friends who knew him.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Jim was a cowboy at heart and fondly reminisced about childhood on the family farm. He rode horses at rodeos, and rumour has it, he also rode them into bars at the Calgary Stampede.
He was an avid outdoorsman well into his 40s, and loved to ski, fish, camp, and hunt. After moving his young family to West Kelowna in 1982, Jim and Sandy built a new house, embraced the Okanagan climate, lifestyle, and grew an amazing garden. They canned peaches and pears, made apple pies and garden salads, and Jim kept the pantry stocked to feed his ravenous teenage sons. Jim is well known for collecting coupons for every grocery store in the Okanagan valley in search of the best deals.
Jim was a lifelong learner and never shied away from a challenge. His many career endeavours included carpentry, real estate, commercial art, electrician, and property management. After work, he could be found behind the daily newspaper, and he kept his mind sharp playing games such as the crossword, Sudoku, and solitaire. He devoted many years to Community Futures, a non-profit organization in Westbank which focused on economic development, entrepreneurship, and job creation. Later in life, Jim learned the game of poker. He loved playing with family and friends and always bet as though he had a winning hand.
He was the barbecue king, and his hors-d’oeuvres were the stuff of legend. He is also known for his collection of unique hats, cringeworthy dad jokes, unorthodox golf swing, naps, snoring, and terrible socks and sandals.
Jim’s true love was his wife Sandra. Married for 51 years, Jim supported and loved Sandy through her lifelong struggle with COPD. Never missing a Valentine’s Day or Birthday, Jim would buy her the most epic bouquets of flowers to show his love and stay out of trouble.
Thank you to all friends family and health care professionals who supported Jim throughout the years and who spent time with to laugh, share stories, tall tales and one-liners.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be determined.
Rest in peace, Pops.

Jimmy and Tyler, this has been a terrible year for you and your families. My most sincere condolences to you all.
I knew your Mom and Dad since the early 90’s when Sandy and I worked for Drex Cabinets. Living in a small town, we saw quite a lot of each other, always with a laugh and a hug. Later in life, they and I were part of a group who got together for “Wing nights”, although, not always just wings. It was a great time to catch up with old friends and I always looked forward to chatting with both of them. As you know, your Dad always had something interesting to contribute to any conversation.
I will miss them.
Sincerely,
Christene
