We Remember

LOVERENOW, Lenard

December 7, 1955 — March 30, 2026

Lenard Loverenow unexpectedly passed on March 30, 2026, at the age of 70. Lenard was born to the late Alex and Tina Loverenow on December 7, 1955, in Nelson, BC, and grew up in Ootischenia, BC and has been in the Kootenays since then.

Lenard’s memory will be carried on in the hearts of his family: his beloved wife, Kathy, with whom he was going to celebrate his 45th anniversary this year; his only son, Dustin, and daughter-in-law, Candace; his brother, Harry (Ann); and his sisters Judy, Margaret (Mike), and Evelyn (Roque); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lenard wasn’t one to seek the spotlight, but anyone who crossed his path quickly discovered he was the kind of man who would stop, listen, and roll up his sleeves without being asked. He maintained close ties with his family throughout his life and cherished a handful of deep, lasting friendships that meant the world to him; always ready to enjoy spending time with them and share a laugh.

Growing up in the Castlegar area, Lenard became a familiar and well-loved presence in his community. His faith as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses was central to who he was, and he lived it quietly and consistently, through kindness, a positive outlook, and a sincere desire to bring a little hope to whoever he met.

His love of the natural world led him to a career with the Ministry of Forests and Lands, where he got to spend his working life doing what came naturally: caring for the land and the creatures on it. Outside of work, he could often be found with a camera in hand, out on a run or a bike ride, or simply enjoying the outdoors in whatever form it took that day. He also had a competitive streak when it came to ping pong, with a fair warning to anyone who challenged him.

Lenard was known for sending friends and family articles about healthy eating and clean living – sometimes at impressive frequency – but those who loved him best also knew about his deep and abiding relationship with waffles, fresh strawberries, and an unreasonable amount of whipped cream, enjoyed with an enormous grin. He found humour in everyday life and had a knack for doing something just a little goofy at exactly the right moment to make someone smile.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the emergency response teams and medical staff at Kelowna General Hospital, who cared for Lenard with great dedication and also supported the family through an incredibly difficult time. They also wish to thank the many friends, family members, and fellow members of their faith who have surrounded them with love and kindness.

Lenard found great comfort in the words of Revelation 21:3-5, a passage that continues to bring peace to his family.
