We Remember

LOWRY, Kermit “Kerry” Merlin

February 17, 1945 — January 26, 2026

Kermit “Kerry” Merlin Lowry passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, in Kelowna, BC with his family at his side. He would have celebrated his 81st birthday on February 17.

Kerry was born in New Westminster, British Columbia. He was a carpenter by trade, and worked as a scaffolder until he retired. He took great pride in building, and working with his hands. He enjoyed working outdoors, fishing, gardening, playing bingo, doing charity work, and spending time with friends and family.

Kerry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Ellen; children David (Justine), Dennis (Brock), and Debra (Chris); his grandchildren Brandon (Melissa), Tia (Steve), Amy (Heath), Chelsea (Josh), and Allyssa (Simon); and his great-grandchildren Paige, Payton, Charlie, Cruz, Isla, and Everleigh. He was predeceased by his daughter Carol.

Kerry loved home-cooked meals and was always up for the adventure of trying new foods. He especially loved dessert and was happiest with a big bowl of ice cream. He was an incredibly kind soul and well-liked by everyone he met — always quick with a smile, even through the most difficult times in his final days. Kerry had a great sense of humour, and loved playing pranks. He always wanted to help, even if it meant putting the needs of others before his own.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

The immediate family will hold a private service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kerry’s memory may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, the Parkinson Society of British Columbia, or the charity of your choice.
