LUNDQUIST, Stewart

April 17, 1936 — June 27, 2025

With family by his side, Stewart Lundquist passed away on June 27, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 89.

Stewart was born in Nipiwan, Saskatchewan on April17,1936, he was the third youngest of 11 siblings and the last to pass. Stewart grew up loving to play sports, curling, hockey, baseball, and later in life he picked up a passion for golf.

Stewart’s career started in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Radio Technician, which took him to the DEW line in Northern Canada. He then had a long career with Alberta Government Telephones as a communication technician. After he retired from AGT, he taught driver training and was especially happy to teach his grandchildren how to drive.

Stewart married Irene Chmelyk on April 27, 1963. They had 62 wonderful years together living in Edmonton, Peace River, Grande Prairie, and their last 31 years have been in Kelowna. During their retirement, they travelled and spent many winters in Arizona. Stew loved to watch many sports on TV, cheering on his favourite teams – the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Blue Jays. Stew also loved to play crib with anyone who would take him on.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Irene; his son, Doug; daughter, Carolynn (Darren) Daviduck; grandchildren, Katelynn Daviduck, Gregory Daviduck, Emilee (Davis) Todosichuk, Brendan (Amber) Daviduck, Joshua Lundquist, Jessica Lundquist, and Matthew Lundquist; and great-grandson, Jett Todosichuk.

A Funeral Mass, with Father Gerald Sekanga presiding, will be held on SATURDAY, JULY 12, 2025, 10:30 AM (PDT), at ST CHARLES GARNIER PARISH, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC.
