We Remember
MACKAY, Dylan Joseph
April 23, 2001 — September 15, 2025
It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the passing of Dylan Joseph MacKay of Sherwood Park, Alberta on September 15, 2025 at the age of 24 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his Father (Joe), Mother (Jody) and Sister (Taylor), as well as his Grandpa, Grandma, Grammie, numerous Aunts/Uncles and Cousins. He is predeceased by his Grampie.
Dylan will also be dearly missed by his numerous friends he cherished within the Edmonton Music Community.
Dylan grew up in Sherwood Park where he attended and graduated from Archbishop Jordan High School. It was there he found a passion for sound and lighting within the Technical Theatre Program. Dylan went on to study at the University of Alberta and received a BFA with Distinction in Technical Theatre Production. After graduation, he went on to work at the U of A in the Student’s Union Department as an Event Technician where he could continue his love of sound/lighting for events happening on Campus.
Dylan has always had a love for music from a very young age. He first learned to play piano and from there guitar where we realized from a young age that he could play by ear rather than reading music. Once in high school, he realized his passion was playing drums and for the next 7 years, Dylan played in numerous bands in the Edmonton music scene. Dylan was a gifted and talented musician who in the past few years also found a love of producing/editing albums for bands around Edmonton.
Dylan was a compassionate, kind, funny, young man who would do anything to help his friends/family in need. He loved being in your company even if he was just a quiet observing presence, but put him on a stage with a drumkit and his personality really shined.
Joe, Jody and Taylor would like to thank all those family and friends that have supported us during this incredibly difficult time.
We love and miss you terribly Dilly Bear. You are forever in our hearts!
