We Remember

MANDERSON, Edna Elizabeth

August 27, 1934 — March 13, 2026

Edna Elizabeth Manderson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at her home in the Vineyards Residence in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 91.

Born on August 27, 1934, in Lloydminster, Alberta, to the late Ann Mary and Joseph William Arnold Oliver. Edna grew up in Kelowna, where the rhythms of small-town life shaped her into the woman her family would come to cherish. She was a hard worker in every sense of the word; she showed up, rolled up her sleeves, and got things done. For many years, she brought that dedication to her role as a manager at Zellers, where she was affectionately known as “Mandy.” After a well-earned retirement she and Bruce settled in Parksville. Edna very soon grew restless with retirement and took over as President of the Pebble Beach strata council where she kept “the place in order,” kindled many special relationships, and put countless hours into her enviable garden.

It was at home where Edna truly came alive, she was the heart of her family and had a gift for welcoming family and friends; for knowing that a meal on the table and the laughter of loved ones was the finest thing life had to offer. If it was Christmas, a birthday or an ordinary Sunday, she welcomed everyone with open arms and made absolutely certain that no one left hungry as her hospitality was unreserved.

Those who knew Edna will smile at the memory of her sarcasm and great sense of humour; delivered with perfect timing and a mischievous look. She was warm and wonderful, and she never pretended otherwise.

Edna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bruce” Manderson (April 22, 1932 – May 12, 2023).

She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren whom she was so very proud of and spoke of often. She always said, even in her later years, how fortunate she was to have such an amazing family.

Friends and family will honour her, each in their own way; no formal service will be held
