We Remember
OGI, Doreen Mavis
March 22, 1951 — November 3, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doreen Mavis Ogi announces her passing in Kelowna General Hospital on November 3, 2025, at the age of 74 – after a short battle with cancer.
Doreen was born on March 22, 1951, in Penticton, BC to parents, Jack and Alma Riley.
Doreen is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years Ronald Ogi; her only son, Samuel (Andrea) Ogi; and her grandchildren, Korwyn Ogi (Emily) and Devon Ogi (Simon). She is also survived by her god-daughter, Rose (Brian) Leslie, and her lifelong friend, Marie Nobles.
She was one of seven children Colleen (Ken) Weatherly, Pat Riley, Murray Riley, Kathy (Wayne) Labossiere, Laura (Doug) Boyce, and Eldon Riley who will all mourn her passing. In addition, she leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and many others she cared for deeply and who deeply cared for her.
Doreen married the love of her life, Ron Ogi, on December 26, 1968. Ron and Doreen started off young and wanted a baseball team of children; however, that was not meant to be, and they were blessed to have one son, Sam. He was the second love of her life, and Sam got to be doted on as an only child. Sam will forever cherish the memories of his beautiful mom.
Doreen was at her happiest when her and her best friend, her camping buddy, her beloved husband, Ron, were preparing to go up to “the hills”, then coming home planning, preparing, and going back into the mountains. Doreen was an avid outdoorswoman – her favourite activities included camping, hunting, and fishing at her happy place, Nevertouch Lake; visiting with her family and friends; and taking long walks with Ron.
There will be no service at the request of the family, as a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the BC Cancer Agency or the BC Wildlife Federation in her name. As most of you know, Doreen never forgot to send a greeting card, and as she would say, “Lots of Love and take care”.
If you wish to send a condolence, post photos, or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Condolences”.
