We Remember

OVIATT, Jason

January 15, 1982 — February 1, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Oviatt on February 1, 2026, at the age of 44. Jason passed away after a long and quiet struggle, leaving behind a family and circle of friends who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forward always.

Jason was predeceased by his father Rick Oviatt. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Carol; stepfather Fred; his siblings Lori, Crystal (Steve), and Shawn (Corinne); his Uncle Wesley and Auntie Donna; and his nephews and nieces, Ivan, Gavan, Jacee, Kaidan, Korban, Logan, Jaydan, Summer, Jasper, and Ty; and many extended family members.  He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and he will be missed beyond words.

Born in Williams Lake, BC, on January 15, 1982, he was raised in McLeese Lake, BC. Jason lived a life marked by authenticity, humour, and kind heart. He had a unique sense of humour and an effortless way of making people laugh, often with lighthearted jokes and a playful wit that could brighten any room. Jason was genuine, kind, and caring — and he formed deep, lasting friendships with those blessed enough to know him. He stood out wherever he went, not only for his love of tattoos, art, music and concerts, but for the way he lived boldly and unapologetically as himself. He spent the latter part of his life in Kelowna, BC, surrounded by great and loving co-workers and friends.

Jason loved the outdoors and found peace in hiking, biking, going to the beach, and staying active at the gym. He cared about wellness, adventure, and living fully. Spontaneous and outgoing, he was the life of the party — silly, ridiculous, witty, and endlessly funny. More than anything, he was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and a true friend: loyal, hardworking, compassionate, and one of a kind. His presence brought energy and warmth to every gathering, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Jason’s life mattered, and the love he gave to others will continue to ripple through all who knew him. His memory will be held close in the hearts of those who shared in his laughter, his adventures, and his friendship.

A Private Service will be held in Jason’s honour at a later date.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Even though we didn’t stay closely connected over the years, I have fond memories of the time we shared in school. Jason was always someone I remember with much humor, time for friends, and respect. Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. I hope you find strength, comfort, and peace in the love of family and friends, and in the memories you shared together. You are in my thoughts.

  • Karen Campbell says:
