It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Eric Ritchie, affectionately known as “Gordie”, on March 13, 2025. Gordie was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and best friend.
If you knew Gordie, you knew a man who never surrendered. He fought a courageous and private battle with cancer, facing each challenge with his signature strength and resilience. He was a man of action, the first into any fray and the last to back down.
Gordie was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for animals, especially his loyal dogs and cats. He had a crazy sense of humour and was fiercely loyal to his brothers, sisters, mother, and father. He loved spending time with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter. Gordie’s love for hot rods and trucks was always best shared with friends and family, whether he was tinkering in the garage, cruising down the highway, or proudly showing them off at car shows. He was a business owner and loved going on fishing trips with his friends. When Gordie wasn’t working on his cars or spending time with loved ones, he could be found exploring the great outdoors. He loved camping under the stars, taking long drives down winding country roads, dusty dirt roads, and FSR’s, he was always eager to explore what lay beyond the beaten path. He loved good music. Gordie always had a story ready, and each one was guaranteed to fill the room with laughter.
Gordie’s deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and the world always brought him back to what truly mattered – cherished moments spent with his family. All of Gordie’s experiences in life, sharpened by the bonds of friendships, forged him into a man of strength and character. While many pass from this world, only a few are legends, leaving behind stories of vibrant spirit and unwavering loyalty remembered by us and shared between us.
Gordie is survived by his loving wife, Yoko Pulver, and her daughter Camalia; his cherished daughters, Jessica and Jolene Ritchie; his devoted brother Len Ritchie and his wife Patty; his nephew Brandon Hunt; and friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters Donna Harris and Shannon; mother Delores Ritchie; father Art Ritchie; and stepfather Ray Bruneau, whom he loved very much.

So sorry to hear of Gordie’s passing. He and i were close growing up in Nakusp, playing hockey together and enjoying what had to be the best time and place to be young boys and men. We drifted apart as jobs and responsibilities took us on different paths but i will always remember that infectious smile and devilish laugh. A sure sign that some kind of cock-eyed adventure was about to begin.
my condolences to all.
He will be missed.
