We Remember

RUSSETT, Daryl Benjamin

February 17, 1965 — March 24, 2026

Born on February 17, 1965, Daryl Russett passed away surrounded by family on March 24, 2026, at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 61.

He is survived by sisters Cheryl, Gaynell, and Melody, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, Mel; mother, Frances; stepfather, John; sisters, Joyce and Darlene; and brother, Floyd.

Daryl grew up in a large, busy and loving family. He enjoyed many pets and he especially loved cats, “Sparta” being his last (and favourite) who chose Daryl when he was volunteering at the SPCA. Daryl loved being out and about shopping and socializing. He loved hockey games, boating, and camping. He loved and enjoyed his family and friends. He was especially close to his nephew Justin.

Daryl was happy, kind, and had a wonderful sense of humour; which helped him thru a lot of life’s challenges. He was fortunate to have a caring and compassionate group of support staff over the years, which the family also appreciated.

Many thanks to the staff at KGH for their care of Daryl in his last days.

Memorial Donations in memory of Daryl may be sent to the BC SPCA, spca.bc.ca.

Brown eyes and hair all shiny and long
Soft little hands that will never play a song
Caught by the devil and never set free
But I’m sure if he could talk that he’d say
Walk in the world for me

Well God its hard to understand what good it could do anyone
But a woman once wrote and her words I’ll quote
They’re God’s special loved ones

Walk in the world for me
A gift given to us so naturally
Walk in the world for me
A gift taken from him so unfairly

But I’m sure if he could talk that he’d say
Walk in the world for me.
