We Remember

SEWELL, Donna

July 13, 1950 — June 9, 2025

On Monday, June 9, 2025, Donna Sewell (74) passed away peacefully, with her family by her side. It was her Cancer Free Anniversary from breast cancer in 1994.  Although, she lost her Ovarian/Peritoneal battle, she is again, fully and forever Cancer Free. Donna will be lovingly remembered by sons Kirby and Troy (Roxanne); daughter Kenda; granddaughters Taylor and Caitlyn; sister Sheree (Greg) Emmerson; and sisters-in-law Deidre Harden (Ricky decd.)  and Marlene Brown (Jim decd.); as well as by numerous other family members and dear friends. She was predeceased by Ken, her husband of 51 years; her parents, Roy and Kay Nelson; parents-in-law George and Gladys; and brother Ricky.

Donna will forever be remembered for her love, laughter, and deep devotion to people – her husband, family, and many friends. She had a heart, personality, and smile that couldn’t help but shine. Donna could be found making friends everywhere she went. She showed care for others in countless personal and practical ways, with her incredible warmth, empathy, and hospitality.

She held a deep Christian faith that embraced people wherever they were in life, with kindness and compassion. She also found joy in using her many talents to help others and make them feel welcome. She created a beautiful home, with an eye for design, and an open-door policy to many who needed; taking in people who needed a safe haven in their life, or a refuge while fighting their own battles with illness.

Donna volunteered and worked many jobs in Regina, Saskatchewan, alongside being a full-time, home-based mom. Her endeavours included clowning, face painting, product promotion, and roles with Sunset United Church, Hillsdale Alliance, Parliament Community, Avon, UNICEF, Heart & Stroke, Cancer Society, and other charities.

When Ken began coaching high school athletics, during all those years, Donna came alongside him as an official team mom. I know there are many who can still see her smile, taste her cooking, and feel the incredible joy and care she spread so generously.

She had unmistakable talent in many things, including speaking, sales, culinary, interior design, event planning, among so many others. She used those skills in her speaking roles with the Christian Women’s Club throughout Saskatchewan (and across Canada), entrepreneurial ventures in Catering, Tropical Illusions, and Norwex. She was passionate about making the world a better place, one beautiful, delicious, friendly encounter at a time.

Donna will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her, but she is now safe in the arms of her creator.
