We Remember

SJODIN, Christopher Lee
—
It is with profound love and sadness that we announce the passing of Chris. He left us far too soon at the age of 56 following a tragic accident. He passed away surrounded by family and friends, his spirit embraced by those who loved him most.
Chris was born in Vanderhoof, BC, to Andrea Lenny and Gene Sjodin. He was the middle child between his older brother Dean and younger sister Ashley. From an early age, his kind heart and easy-going nature drew people to him. He was a steadfast friend, a loyal brother, and a caring son.
His adventure began over three decades ago when he found Mona, and their partnership of 34 years was built on unwavering support for each other and a multitude of shared dreams that will endure beyond this loss.
A natural entertainer, Chris turned every gathering into a celebration. His sharp wit, clever sense of humour (sometimes hilariously inappropriate), and infectious laughter would fill the room and create lasting memories. He loved cooking, sharing good food, and fine wine. Creative and hands-on, Chris always had a project on the go. Whether on the golf course, ski hill, hockey rink, or pickleball court, he brought the same joyful energy and adventurous spirit to everything he did. Chris was a collector of stories and friendships. His magnetic presence, warmth, generosity, and HUGS were legendary. He approached life with an open heart and willingness to help anyone – he stood in your corner!
Chris’ generosity wasn’t just a trait; it was a way of life. Even in his passing, his generosity shone through as he gave the gift of life through organ donation. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, both in life and through his final selfless act.
Mona, Andrea, Dean, Ashley, along with all the nieces and nephews, extended family, and countless friends will miss him always.

We are so saddened to hear of Chris’s passing. Gone way too soon! Sending Condolences to the entire family. The Herrons
This is the only photo I have of Chris, taken during a memorable day at work when we were doing fire extinguisher training. We turned it into a friendly competition to see who could put out the fire the fastest. Chris was having a tough time with it, and we were all giving him a hard time—but in the best, most lighthearted way. He took it all in stride, just like he always did.
Chris was an outstanding operator and a joy to work with. He had a great sense of humor and always met my jokes and sarcasm with a laugh. He had a way of lifting the mood, keeping things light even on the busiest days. His easygoing nature and quick wit made the workplace better for everyone around him. He’ll be deeply missed.
Our heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
I’m so grateful to have met Chris, and have noticed his presence missing at work since his passing. I saw him every morning where he’d have a sarcastic, funny comment, more times then not poking fun at me. But it always went both ways. When I was a new operator he was always patient and kind, with helpful advice. And then over the years we worked together he became a friend that I joked with, shared travel stories with, and he even tried to teach me to invest money. The last interaction Chris and I had, was when when I took the bus home to my new address and was feeling nervous and not sure where to go. Not only did he help me look at the map and figure it out, he even went as far as to get off the bus late and make sure I got off at the right place and wasn’t stranded. Even if it meant he had a longer walk home. This was so appreciated and I remember thinking what a great person he was.
My deep condolences to friends and family. He spoke so often, and highly of his wife Mona. I could feel the love they had for each other through his stories of her. I know the pain of this loss is indescribable and since there are no words to ease this pain, just know I’m thinking of you and I promise to always remember Chris and to share the great memories I have of him. He was an incredible person and is so missed. Rest in peace Chris.
My deepest condolences. I will never forget Chris’s kindness towards me in high school. He was such a kind, caring, thoughtful and funny guy. He always made me feel seen when I felt invisible. So I will always be thankful for his quiet and caring friendship. 💕 Keeping all of the family in my thoughts and prayers. Chris will be fondly remembered.

I didn’t know Chris well, but had worked with him both at base mine and Aurora, and he was always such a kind and helpful man, soft spoken and willing to help anyone. He was a pleasure to know and work with, always. My sincere condolences to Mona and the family.
