We Remember

SONNENBERG, Ella

January 4, 1926 — April 3, 2026

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Sonnenberg, who passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the age of 100.

Ella was born on January 4, 1926, in Croatia, and immigrated to Manitoba as a young girl. She was raised and later settled in Swan River, where she met the love of her life, Joseph. Together they built a life rooted in family, community, and quiet devotion. In their later years, they moved to Kelowna to enjoy retirement, warmer weather, and many happy days spent golfing with friends and family.

Ella was soft-spoken and dignified, with a natural elegance that showed in everything she did. She was always beautifully dressed, carried herself with grace, and had a lovely singing voice. She shared that gift as part of a ladies choir trio, something she truly enjoyed.

She had a love for golf and spent many cherished hours on the courses at Gallaghers Canyon and Ponderosa Pines. More than anything, Ella was a devoted and caring presence in the lives of those who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend.

Ella is lovingly survived by her children Cheryl (Jim) and Brian (Carlene); grandchildren Jessica, Lindsay, Whitney, and Ryan; her numerous great-grandchildren.

She now joins her beloved husband, Joseph, who passed in 2010.

Ella will be missed beyond words.

Family and friends will each honour Ella in their own ways. No formal service will be held.
