We Remember

AQUILON, George Ernest

May 1, 1925 — March 7, 2015

 

Peacefully, with his children by his side, George Ernest Aquilon passed away at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the age of 89 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years, Marion; daughters Lori (Gary), Janice (Chris), Karen, and son Mark (Kelly); grandchildren Jason (Rebecca), Jaydene, Courtney, Nick, Geordi, Taylor, Erin, Daniel, and Remy; great grandchildren Cohen and Aysia. George was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary Aquilon; brothers Lyall and John; Aunt Cecile and many other relatives and friends. He will also be missed by his sisters Aileen, Vivian and Barbara, and his brother Ken (Donnie). George was born in Ceylon, Saskatchewan on May 1, 1925. Growing up, he lived in many communities on the Prairies. He met the love of his life, Marion in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Kelowna in the sixties, where they raised four wonderful children.

George was a serious sports enthusiast, and spent his adult life skiing, curling, golfing, swimming and walking with his coffee buddies. Always outgoing and people oriented, George was well suited for his career with Mutual Life Assurance Company of Canada. Many service clubs welcomed George, including Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus, and OK Mission Lions. George had many hobbies including woodworking, photography and computers. His greatest passion in his later years was attending the games of his favourite hockey team, the Kelowna Rockets, and his grandsons’ minor hockey games.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Charles Garnier Catholic Church, 3645 Benvoulin Road, Kelowna, BC on March 16, 2015 at 10:30 a.m., with a celebration of life to follow.
