My thoughts are with you Marion. It’s hard to believe it’s 38 years since I first met George at the old Ellis Street office of Mutual Life. His photograph says it all. A man who exuded warmth and a zest for life. Happily, I bumped into him two years ago just days before I left Kelowna and moved to Sooke.
I met George when I was the receptionist at Mutual Life of Canada from 1987 – 1990. I didn’t know him very well, maybe about 6 months, and I was asked to give a speech at his retirement party. It was strange because I didn’t have any good dirty on him. I was honoured.
After that I saw him when he came into the office, only a few times and occassionaly at a hockey game. He will be remembered by many. Joanne Hank

To the Aquilon family, especially Marion. So sorry to hear of George’s passing. I meet George when I joined Mutual Life a long while ago. So remember his teasing, his smile and laugh.. and we had a few of those. Sending my prayers and love as you move forward without George’s physical presence, but will feel his energy in your heart, which is connected to our Creator God. God Bless, Rosalie Chalmers.
My condolences to you and your family Marion. I have so many fond memories of George from my childhood and the time I spent with you both when I would be visiting Cecile and Ray. Sending love to you all.

Marion and all the Aquilon family,
I am so sorry to hear of George’s passing. Like Maggie, I too have fond memories of growing up in the Aquilon/Powell clan. My sincerest condolences to you.

I’m sorry to hear of George’s passing. I enjoyed many jokes forwarded by your Dad. Your parents’ friendship was very important to both my Mom and Dad.
Mom passed away suddenly in 2000 and counted Marion and George among her closest friends. Dad still holds this friendship dear. My deepest condolences and thanks to you for fond memories of your parents.
My sincere sympathy to the Aquilon family. I knew George through Kelowna Kinsmen many years ago–over the years, we lost touch, but through my nephew–(Chris Light) his son-in-law– I was kept informed on how he and Marion were keeping. My thoughts are with you. Fred Fowler–Enderby.
Marion, we were so sorry to learn of George’s passing. Our condolences go out to you and your family. If I remember correctly, Geo joined MLC in ’61. he started me in Kinsmen in ’63 and we competed as agents in ’64. I always admired him for his people skills and the success he enjoyed in insurance. I loved his woodworking projects too. I saw him about two years or so ago at a Rockets Game. He looked the same as ever. He didn’t seem to age! 89 Years! Where did they all go? He will be missed by many.
To Marion and the Aquilon family, I send my sincere condolences for your loss. May your treasure of memories comfort you at this difficult time. Mr. Aquilon was always kind and understanding. My thoughts are with you all.
