WHISSELL, Warren

Warren passed away on September 1, 2020. He leaves behind his loving wife Dalia Whissell and their children Alison Whissell and Jason Whissell. He is also survived by his sister Jacqueline (Dave) Smith and his cousins Christoper, Kevin, and Michelle.
Born in Montreal, QC, Warren worked for CP Rail for 38 years. 15 of those years, he lived in Calgary, AB, but when he moved with his family to Kelowna, BC in 2013 he got a new lease on life.
Warren was spontaneous and full of life. He created beautiful scenic paintings, he even had his paintings displayed on the Douglasdale Community flag poles. He enjoyed contributing to his community as evidenced by the many organizations he belonged to: The Douglasdale Community Association, where he organized BBQs and block parties; The Knights of Columbus; and he was even a Boy Scout leader.
Warren will be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11:00 am at St. Pius X Catholic Parish, 1346 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC. with father Gerald Sekanga as celebrant. I worked with Warren over 22 years ago and we laughed everyday. I have 2 of his paintings. Warren succeeded at everything he put his hand to. I will miss him greatly for his wisdom and friendship. My heart is broken but I will treasure the memories I had with him last summer when I visited Kelowna. RIP Warren. You were one of a kind
I remember cousin Warren as a kind and caring gentleman for the cards and flowers he regularly sent to his aunt Lucille despite the distance.
The attention brought such joy to her and speaks volumes of his soul.

Dear Dalia and family – I am so very sorry for your broken hearts with the hole that Warren’s sudden passing has left. He was such a joyous and kind gentleman and was always a willing and humble servant to his Parish. My prayers for comfort and healing to you all.
Warren was the most positive and caring person. Our brother Knight and my friend, you will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with your family and may you rest in peace.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Dalia and Alison. Warren was such a wonderful man, and left his mark on our family – as a great friend to Peter, and as a blessing to my mom especially in her time of need. He was and did so much more than we could have ever hoped for. He will be missed.
Though I did not know Warren that well, The few times I met him as a child when he was a co-worker with my Mother at CP, he was a kind and friendly man. To the family I offer my condolences at this hard time. I am sure the loss of Warren will leave a void that only time may fill.
Dalia, Allie, Jason and family. Like many others I was shocked to hear of Warren’s passing. I have only known him as a Sage Creek neighbour, but knew he was kind and generous and of course like me, a dog lover. I will miss our chats on the street or anywhere in town we bumped into each other when he was on his bike. I will also miss his tourtierres! For the past 50 plus years we all had the chance to create great memories with Warren. Through good times and not so easy times, Warren always came out with a smile and an infectious laugh. He always shared his joie de vivre. He will be greatly missed.
I have many wonderful memories of Warren. Especially a conference we both attended in California. Driving up the coast, eating dinner at the waterfront and getting lost driving back into Los Angeles. I am a better person for having known Warren. My sincere condolences Dalia, Alison and Jason.

Dalia, there are 400 plus parishioners who will miss Warren at our masses and celebrations at St. Pius X Parish. The Knights of Columbus holds him in a very high level of friendship and will also miss his generosity.as he gave himself in his charitable works and actions. this picture shows how we honored him and you in “Family of the Month in 2019. Heartfelt condolences to Dalia, Alison and Jason. I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Uncle Warren and spending special family time together growing up. I was glad to be able to attend his funeral today online with my mom & dad to say goodbye. It was such a beautiful, moving celebration of his life and his service to the church and to the community. To Dahlia and family. Please accept my deepest condolences. I worked in the CP Treasury department in Montreal and Toronto with Warren from 1970 to 1989. Although we didn’t work directly together, I always found Warren to be a very warm and friendly person. He was also very helpful to the people around him. I’m sure he’ll be greatly missed. RIP Warren
