BROCK, Lorraine (née Dasti)
July 7, 1923 — November 30, 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Lorraine Brock announces her peaceful passing at Hospice House, Kelowna, on November 30, 2023, at the remarkable age of 100 years.
Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Bruce (Susan), and Blossom (Will); cherished grandchildren, Paula, Tiffany, Immanuel, Haida, and Tao (Sarah). She is also remembered fondly by her beloved brother Raymond Dasti; former daughter-in-law, Wilma Harvey; and many nieces and nephews. Lorraine is further survived by her stepchildren, Ron (Margot), Dan (Maryann), and their families. She was predeceased by her infant son, Brian; her cherished siblings (10 in total); her first husband, Bertram Harvey; and her recent spouse, Jim Brock.
Lorraine was born in Foleyet, Ontario, and lived a long and adventurous life. She raised her children in Capreol and Sudbury, where she found joy in the family cottage on Lake Wanapitei, as well as spending happy times with their friends and numerous siblings. Lorraine also excelled as a skincare consultant for Beauty Counsellor, earning numerous awards, including a car. Relocating from Sudbury to Kelowna with her husband, Bertram, they built a successful motel and owned a beautiful apple orchard. Lorraine enjoyed a lengthy career at The Bay as a respected Estée Lauder consultant. A seasoned traveller, Lorraine explored Europe with her sister and brother-in-law, and she crisscrossed Canada and the U.S. with her dear husband, Jim, creating countless cherished memories.
Lorraine’s legacy is one of love, kindness, faith, resilience, and a life well-lived. Her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love for her family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to the heartfelt expressions above, we extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated medical professionals at Kelowna General Hospital and Hospice House Kelowna, including the doctors and nurses who provided compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. “C” (Dr. Grant Chamberlain) for his unwavering support and expertise, as well as to Reverends Ann Privett and Pam Wilson at St. Andrews Anglican Church. Our gratitude also extends to Lorraine’s friends and the staff at Chatsworth, whose companionship brought her comfort and joy in recent years. Your kindness and support have been a source of strength for the family, and your contributions to Lorraine’s well-being during this challenging time are deeply appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to Doctors Without Borders or Heart & Stroke Foundation in Lorraine’s honour.
A celebration of Lorraine’s life will be held Spring 2024 and details will be listed on the Springfield Funeral Home website.
