We Remember

IRWIN, Robert Eldon George

November 3, 1958 — February 19, 2026

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Robert Eldon George, who passed away peacefully, while surrounded by family, on February 19, 2026, at the age of 67.

Left to hold him dear to their hearts are those he loved most, including his loving wife of 23 years, Tracey; children Alex (Angela), Brittany (Daniel), Matt (Ashley), and James; grandchildren Rupert, Harrison, Scotia, and Autumn; his best bud, Loki the dog; and many extended family members and friends.

Bob will be remembered for his deep love of the outdoors, his dedication to service, and the many traditions he shared with family and friends. An avid bagpiper, he found joy in music and in gathering with others to play and listen. He was also a passionate skier who rarely missed a chance to head up to Big White, where he loved parking at the Gem Lake chair to meet up with friends and their dogs before heading out onto the slopes. Bob had a lifelong appreciation for nature, especially after time spent in Williams Lake, where he developed a love of hunting, fishing, and canoeing. Annual fishing trips with close friends became a cherished ritual, and he also enjoyed collecting and tasting fine scotch, always happy to share a laugh and a story.

Bob served his country and community with pride. He served a 35-year career with the RCMP, serving in Chilliwack, Williams Lake, and Kelowna before going on to serve 10 years in the military with the British Columbia Dragoons. His experience in cadets as a young man led to a lifetime of fond memories which motivated him to continue his military service later in his career.

Bob retired in 2016 after decades of dedicated service and left a lasting impression on colleagues and the communities he served.

We extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has provided an act of kindness or sent us beautiful flowers and messages of support during this time, and a special thank-you to the ICU staff at Kelowna General Hospital for their compassionate care.

Bob will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

There will be a celebration of Bob’s life held in the near future. With limitations due to the size of the venue, the service will be by invitation only. For more information, please reach out to contact@regirwin.com.
