We Remember

QUINLAN, Harold Francis

Harold Quinlan passed away with his family at his side on Saturday May 21 at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his loving wife Jean of 63 years in 2010.  He is survived by his daughter Colleen of Kelowna and grandson Ryan (Kathryn) of Edmonton.  He is also survived by his brother Leo (Geane), sisters-in-law Cecile (Bill), Evelyn and Doris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to him as Uncle Harold.

Harold was born in Nemiscam Alberta to Thomas and Agnes Quinlan. Harold enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII and served his country in the European theater until the end of the war in 1945.  He returned to his home town of Pincher Creek Alberta where he married his life-long partner Jean in 1947.  Harold moved his family to Kelowna in 1974, and worked for many years before retiring to help raise his Grandson and act as the father figure in his life.  ‘Pop’ was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and friend.  He will be missed, but never forgotten, by those whose lives he touched.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Veterans Affairs Canada who never wavered in their support of Harold. Special thanks to the members of IH Community Care who assisted Harold in his tasks at home and took exceptional care of him every day.  Also special thanks to the office of Dr. Cosman and Dr. Stone for their ongoing care.
