We Remember
FRIESEN, Alvina Donna
—
Alvina Donna Friesen (nee Klippenstein) went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2016 at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband William; daughter Valorie (Alvin); sons Brent and Blair; grandchildren Shevon (Jamy), Shaylene (Tyler) and Ryan as well as her brothers Fern (Margaret), Allan (Sheila), Dennis (Irene), Earl (Dean), Ray (Bernice) and Gary.
For six years, up to October 2010, Alvina was the lead volunteer and Soup Chef of the Thank Goodness It’s Friday (TGIF) lunch program for seniors in West Kelowna. She said the reward for her efforts was the “big smiles on their faces,” as clients came in the door.
Alvina was the type of person who could easily get into conversation with complete strangers while waiting in a line or waiting for her husband Bill to get her a coffee at McDonald’s. As a result she left many friends in her wake. She will also be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews who found her to be a great listener, source of encouragement and a sincere friend.
A memorial will be held for Alvina in her home province of Manitoba, sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2017. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

Alvina was a wonderful lady who enjoyed helping people and worked hard doing so. She will be remembered for the work she did at TGIF luncheon. Alvina always had a smile and a kind word. We enjoyed her and Bill at McDonalds when we met up with our friends there for coffee.
Our condolences to the family.Rest in peace, sweet lady.
