ABRAMS, Mark Thomas
—
In Loving memory of Mark Thomas Abrams
April 19th, 1952 – March 31st, 2013
Age 60 years
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Abrams this past Easter Sunday. His courageous six month battle with cancer left all who knew him inspired by his bravery and unfaltering optimism. Mark leaves many dear friends, his brothers Brian (Ottawa) and Johnathan (New York) and his most precious Aunt Billie (Minden). He was predeceased by his parents Bernard (Bill) and Violet Abrams.
Mark was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario and upon graduation from secondary school attended Ryerson University in Toronto where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television. Shortly after he relocated to Kelowna, British Columbia as a commercial writer/producer at CHBC Okanagan Valley Television. Mark had a varied and interesting career in Communications, Public Relations and Multi Media production as a video/film writer/ producer/director in Kelowna, Vancouver and Harrison. He was as he coined himself, “A Man of Many Hats”.
Mark loved music (loud), boating with friends and a variety of sports. He was active in the community as a Rotarian and with the Kelowna Food Bank.
He was always the one that you could count on to lend a hand or some helpful advice and we will greatly miss his friendship and sense of humour.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Mark on Sunday, April 14th from 2pm-5pm at the Kelowna Yacht Club. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Kelowna Food Bank at 1215 Ellis Street, Kelowna. If you wish to send a condolence, post photos or share a memory, please scroll down the page to the area called “Share Your Condolences.”

My deepest condolences to all for Mark’s friends and family. His camaraderie and great sense of fun and adventure will be greatly missed. We always had such great times when he stayed with us in Ottawa every year for the last decade. I will miss his visits. He loved so many things and always had a remarkable way of sharing them with all who spent time in his company. Rest in the arms of angels dear friend. You will be forever remembered.
