We Remember

ADAM, Alexander Charles “Charley”

November 2, 1932 — July 15, 2025

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Alexander Charles Adam, who passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 92.

Charley is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Yvette; children Lee (Jacinta), Valerie (Rick), and Terry (Amanda); many grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He now goes to join those who passed before him, including his parents, Eldred and Ettie; first wife Joyce; daughter Sharleen; and granddaughter Samantha.

Charley was born in Kelowna, BC, on November 2, 1932, and lived a life rooted in curiosity, community, and strength. He had a deep love for history—he didn’t just read about it, he lived it, preserving stories and facts with care and passion. As a member of the local historical society, Charley contributed not only with his knowledge but with his words—writing stories and reflections that were published in papers, keeping local heritage alive. He had a knack for capturing details, whether through writing or in the cartoons and designs he sketched, including one particularly memorable drawing of himself.

Charley wasn’t someone who sought attention, but he showed up when it counted. He volunteered his time generously, including with search and rescue teams, and lived out his values through quiet acts of service. He was a humanitarian at heart—practical, reliable, and deeply decent. His sense of humour was dry and smart, never loud, but it stayed with you. Those who knew him will remember his great little chuckle, the kind that warmed a room. He also had an unmatched talent for fixing just about anything with duct tape—a true aficionado—turning utility into an art form. Charley lived simply, gave freely, and left a mark in his own steady way.

He will be missed beyond words.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced.

In honour of Charley, please consider memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
