We Remember

AFONSO, Teresa

February 20, 1944 — March 29, 2024

With profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of Teresa Afonso’s passing. Teresa passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on March 29, 2024 at the age of 80.

Teresa goes to join those who passed before her, including her beloved husband and love of her life, Antonio.

Left to treasure her memory are her daughters, Maria (Brant) and Nancy (Jesse); grandchildren, Charlotte, Evan, Arlo, and Daisy; as well as siblings Isabel (Bill), Tony (Lesa), Irene (Ron), Frances, and Frank (Cathy); and several nieces and nephews.

Teresa was a remarkable woman and a diligent worker, pouring her heart into everything she did, while embodying resilience and determination. Teresa’s gentle, sweet, and kind-hearted soul radiated warmth and compassion, earning her the reputation of an angel among those who knew her. Whether tending to her beloved flowers or cheering passionately for her favourite hockey team, the Kelowna Rockets, Teresa’s presence illuminated the lives of those fortunate enough to cross her path. She will be tremendously missed.

In honour of Teresa and the wonderful life she lived, a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2024, located at CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 750 Rutland Road North, Kelowna, BC, with Father Pat Monette presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Okanagan Hospice House.

Please accept my sincere condolences in the passing of Teresa. She was a wonderful person and made the most beautiful decorations at Christmas time and her flowers are outstanding and made this neighborhood a much better place.

  • Evelin Irons says:

We are so sorry for your loss. The memories go way back to when Stacy and Nancy would be figure skating and we would huddle in the bleachers at the areans. Fall would have her bring apples for the girls. Then it would be at Rockets games with the sisters, always early, nattering away about forgetting the ticket at a past game. Our thoughts go with the family. Evelin and Stacy Irons
