It is with a heavy heart that I read the obituary for Jack Allen. Our “Jack in the Beanstock” was a fellow who you could always elicit a healthy humorous chuckle from.Jack was the organizer of the weekend fishing forays for the Burrard Dry Dock working group of guys. It was Jacks superstition that every boat of guys that went out had to have a full long neck bottle of beer to use as a fish bonker or you wouldn’t catch any fish. With Jack gone the world is a lesser place without him. From one of the weekend fishing warriors.

Dear Gwen and family: It was with great sadness to learn of Jack’s passing in the Coast Reporter. You were both such good welcoming neighbours to us. I so much enjoyed my sunshine walks with Jack. He was so proud of his family and I learned a little about everyone during this time. We share your sorrows with you. Love Esther & Bob
Dear Gwen and family
We were saddened to learn of Jack’s passing. We always enjoyed having you as good neighbours on Picadilly Place in Sechelt. We were reminded of often seeing you two out on walks with one of the two Springer spaniels and Gwen often mentioning ‘obedience’ school (we always assumed she meant for the dog and Jack both). One of our favourite memories was of Jack backing into the basketball hoop and basically destroying it. Then, with Sean away, Jack led the successful effort to put the new one back together after laying out the 250 pieces in our driveway. Five hours after commencing Jack, Gwen and Carol had it completed and we used that hoop for another 8 years until we gave it away to a deserving family. We wish the peace of God to you all. Sincerely, Sean and Carol, Stephanie and Connor
